Synygy start work on CoC cricket ground

cityofchild28

On 3 March a team from IT services firm Synygy visited City of Child. The purpose of their visit was to start work on building a cricket ground for the children. As well as providing volunteers to help prepare the ground, Synygy is also funding 50% of the cost.In the morning the team were greeted with breakfast, before getting down to work. Although it was already hot, the team worked hard to dig down and remove soil from the main pitch area. When the ground is complete, there will be a banked seating area and a durable pitch surface. After a delicious lunch the team interacted with the CoC children, playing games, singing songs and even staging an impromptu cricket match outside the main hall. Inevitably, the CoC boys won.

With it being Holi - the festival of colours - it wasn't long before the Synygy volunteers and the children and staff of CoC were all throwing water and powdered colours at each other. It was certainly an opportunity to cool down after all that effort.

Work continues on the ground and it will be complete by 31 March, when the Synygy staff will return to CoC to play an inaugural match. Many thanks to all the hard-working volunteers who took part.
