Rani, Aadhar Kendra

Rani (AK)

Rani Kamble is twelve years old and has been a part of the Aadhar Kendra scheme for 5 years.

A fieldworker told Rani about Deep Griha when her father passed away. She had lots of problems at home because her mother couldn’t afford to support the family and there wasn’t enough food for them all. Now she is supported through AK scheme and Rani is provided with daily meals through the nutrition programme. She also receives new clothes and schoolbooks.

Rani says she now feels better about coming from a slum, she is in the first standard at school and her favourite subject is English. One day she hopes to become a doctor.

Rani says that the atmosphere at Deep Griha is great, she has lots of friends and she is looked after well by the fieldworkers. She has lots of aunties who work hard to cook for them all. She also enjoys talking to the international volunteers and practicing her English.
